Friday 29th of September started like other days but it had something special in it. Luzira Secondary school received a team of two from the Vine Air Flight Academy with transforming messages for the students of the mighty school. This was the first flight academy to be licensed and certified by the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority to conduct pilot training in Uganda. It is located in Jinja Airfield and has existed for five years now.
Mr.Kavuma George William graced the session with a speech and encouraged the students to always be ready with their National Identification Cards(IDs) and Passports because opportunities come anytime but should find them ready to grab them at anytime. He also reminded them of the scholarships available both national and international and that is why the should be always ready with their passports because they may be required to go out. “The students have the passion but we lack connections” he added as he thanked the team for coming to the mighty school. He talked of opening up an aviation club in the school soon to keep that passion among the students. Let me take this opportunity to inform that students of the mighty school to be ready of a new club coming up in school.
The main aim of their coming was to guide the students about finding their careers at an early age most especially piloting and other related fields. Captain Bogere Tony Louis who was accompanied by Captain Senabulya Emmanuel, was the first to address the students and informed them of various courses offered at the academy which include:
⦁ Piloting
⦁ Automotive Engineering
⦁ Air Traffic controller
⦁ Ground Instructor
⦁ Cabin crew
⦁ Ground handler among others.
For one to attain all these courses, the requirements needed are just few and are:
⦁ One should be 17 years of age and above
⦁ Minimum academic qualification is senior four with at least a credit 3 in English, Mathematics, Physics and Geography.
⦁ Lastly, a person should pass all the medical check ups done by the aviation doctor.
“If you have the zeal to change a career nothing is impossible” said Captain Tony. If you really want that particular goal and you want to achieve it, there is no reason why you should postpone its commencement, start today because tomorrow is not assured. He advised the students to live in the present and not in the past if they want to do great tomorrow. “A person who started chasing his/her dream from an early age will be better than you tomorrow” he said.
Captain Emmanuel Senabulya gave the last remarks and told the students not to focus much on their past because not that they all came from privileged families but they just followed their dreams. They started small but now they are big now. “Nothing good is cheap, you have to pay a price” he said.
